Dealing with error: “Corruption has been detected on this volume”

If Windows Vista is installed on your system, then you might have encountered following error message:

Corruption has been detected on this volume. To prevent further corruption, we recommend repairing the volume now.

Above mentioned error message is displayed when you connect an USB drive to your system. Since this issue that takes place only with Windows Vista, when you connect the same USB drive to a computer with Windows XP installed on it, this message doesn’t appear.

Solution

When this message displays on your computer screen, you must have noticed that if you click Cancel button, you face no problem in accessing the drive. But if you wish to resolve this issue, then instead of clicking Cancel button click Repair, so that the Windows Vista may repair the volume.

This issue takes place while using some specific USB drives but if the USB drive you are using is showing this message, then it is always better to get it repaired with Windows Vista itself. Do not click Cancel, as by doing so you receive the same message every time you connect the USB drive to your computer. Once the volume is repaired, you can access your USB drive without getting any error message displayed on your computer screen.
