How to resize the Recycle Bin in Windows XP?
You all must be aware that recycle bin holds 10% of the space of hard disk. So if your hard drive is getting short on space, then reducing the size of your Recycle Bin would be an apt action. By default Windows XP reserves 10% of your hard drive for the recycle bin.
Interestingly, one can save up to 3GB of space if one resizes the recycle bin to 1% on a 40GB hard drive. One can resize individual drives also or all of them globally, whatever suits the most. But before starting resizing, it’s recommended that you empty the bin first.
Follow the given below steps to achieve the resizing of Recycle Bin.
-
Right click on the Recycle Bin icon and select Properties.
-
From the Recycle Bin Properties screen, you can choose to configure drives independently or globally by setting the same size for all drives. Here you can also choose to remove files immediately and not put them in the Recycle Bin at all.
-
Just select the tab for each drive and move the slider to accommodate the percentage of space you wish to use.
-
Once you have finished resizing click Apply and OK.
If your files and folders have been emptied from the recycle bin, you can recover deleted files using Kernel for FAT and NTFS data recovery software. The software can recover all types of files. Even the files having long names and the files that are hard deleted can be successfully recovered by the software.
